Did you see that group of kids that just walked by? Along with the designer jeans, short skirts and trendy neon colors they’re wearing, there’s a new theme that teenagers are showing off. Belly and body jewelry is now passé, and Ed Hardy shirts are on their way out too, while the new craze to declare ones love for music shines. Whether its a guitar pick necklace being worn, or a crystal guitar pendant on a bracelet, guitar jewelry is hot.

“It’s a chance to show our own style” Tom uttered, a short pimpled faced teen, who had several guitar pieces of guitar jewelry around his neck. “Guitars and Rock” is printed in his shirt and the soft melancholy vocals of the “Chili Peppers” played from his ipod. “I met my girlfriend at their concert”, said Tom as he proudly showed us the guitar jewelry he just bought at the local mall – a long chain with peace sign hanging next to an electric guitar charm.

Attributed to the video game “Guitar Hero”, or maybe just a love for the guitar itself, teenagers are showing off the latest trends in guitar jewelry. Guitars are everywhere, from prints on a shirt or hat, to pendants on guitar necklaces, bracelets and earrings. The message is simple - MUSIC LIVES inside all of us. It seems that teenagers are strumming a new note on an old theme – “Rock ‘n Roll is here to stay” – a theme which our generation may recall from a few years back.
