As Summertime nears, and Winter gives way to longer days, it brings back memories of my youthful days at the shore.

As the warmer weather approaches, each year the coast comes back to life. From the newly renovated restaurants , to the more detailed gift shops clamoring for the latest trends (such as wholesale dolphin jewelry, colors, gifts and “must haves” for the summer, our favorite season is upon us. And who can forget their first summer love met while on family vacation at the beach? Or the friendship bracelets shared, and their bright white Puka shell necklace they wore when they went back school as they relived Summer memories with their friends?

Be it the boardwalk in Long Island, or the beaches in Virginia Beach, or the gentle coast off Sanibel Island, Florida, the memories blend together as I find myself remembering those youthful days. Fun times with the friends, the smell of peanuts roasting, grilling hamburgers, and the sounds of kids playing on the beach fill the air.

Hard to believe all of this is still available, to share with my children, as I cherish the memories and how my family shared these timeless moments together.

To think that all these gift shops must reach out each winter, create their new assortments, and source their merchandise. From the new candy bars, or the souvenir glassware (which permit us to relive our summer break in the fall), all placed strategically to catch our eye and say yes. And what about those signs proclaiming wholesale shell jewelry with bright neon starbursts in the shop windows?

So let’s welcome Spring, and embrace the summer that beacons to us.
