A national facility for preserving and distributing oceanographic and marine data. Staff have direct experience of marine data collection and analysis and ensure that the oceanographic data handled are documented and stored for current and future use.
Details: The British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC) approach to marine data management involves:
1) The careful storage, quality control and archiving of oceanographic and marine data so they are unaffected by changes in technology and will be available into the future.
2) Distributing data to scientists, education, industry and the public — we are committed to improving online access to data on our web site.
3) Working alongside marine scientists during oceanographic research projects — we provide a data management service during the life time of the project.
4) Producing innovative marine data products and digital atlases.
